take a sip of inspirationHalloween is a little over a week away, which is plenty of time to whip up a few treats for the people in your life who might have outgrown trick-or-treating, but still have that spooky spirit.

My daughter, who was 12 at the time, came up with this simple idea to dip into my very small stash of Halloween-themed fabric. I whipped up some hexies (hexes for Halloween, get it?), hand-stitched them together in a row, then topstitched them onto Kona black fabric. I programmed the Trick or Treat phrase into my Bernina 550QE and stitched it into the background fabric at my daughter’s suggestion. Contrasting zigzag stitches to secure the binding added a little more pizzazz. I think maybe that kid has a future in design.
