i wish you a merry quilt along logo

Your Christmas quilt just won’t be complete without a snazzy snowman, whether you live in a place with white Christmases or someplace more tropical.

Sherry at Powered By Quilting came up with this fabulous snowman block which offers plenty of opportunities for adding your own personal flair. I just had to dress my guy up for a night on the town!

Introducing Dapper Dan, the Glam Snowman!

Sherry wrote her pattern to be quite easy to follow. I tend to get confused on which direction to stitch the squares with pieces like the diagonal scarf, so I took pics in case I’m not the only one:

I also opted to try using Kurumi buttons to represent coal for the eyes and buttons. They came in the most recent Quilty Box, and I’d never used them before. It was easy-peasy, although I wasn’t a big fan of appliquéing them on. (I used a glue stick to keep them in place while I stitched. It helped.)

I’m still thinking about if I’d like to add a mouth, arms, and/or a sprig of holly to Dapper Dan! What do you think?

  1. I love, love, love your snowman Becca! Classy is a word that springs to mind when I look at him. I particularly like your choice of background fabric and the way his scarf and hat co-ordinate with it! Lovely
