Design Dare LogoWelcome to a new monthly inspiration feature, the Design Dare! On the first Friday of every month, I’ll post an image for you to use as a creative catalyst for your own quilt design. Each image is accompanied by a palette of five colors as a jumping-off point, but you can use any colors you’d like. Design a quilt, and whether you actually make it or not is up to you!

What to do

Check out the image below for inspiration. Design a quilt, then link up to the linky party at the bottom of the post with a blog or Instagram post featuring your design. Please add a link back here to your blog post or use the hashtag #firstfridaydesigndare on Instagram. That’s it!

Grab a button

You can show that you’re participating by grabbing the code for a button and adding it to your blog post or sidebar! Copy and paste the source code for either the small or large graphic.

You can win a prize!

After the link party closes, I’ll randomly select one link to win a bundle of four hand-dyed fat quarters.

Make sure to visit as many of the links as you can and check out all of the different directions your fellow designers have gone.

Finally, the Design Dare

    1. You’re creative! Heck, it doesn’t have to be a work of art. You can sketch out a nine-patch using colors you like from the photo if you want. Anything goes, Candy!!!

  2. Love this!!! These colors are not something I would normally work with but I can think of a few fun ways to use them! Can’t wait to see what everyone comes up with!

    1. Wonderful! You’re welcome to use any colors you’d like–inspiration can come from any aspect of the photo. But since the point is to challenge yourself and stretch a bit, I can’t wait to see if you decide to use the color palette!

  3. I’m just finishing up a design a day challenge, so I may try this to keep the designing going. I have ideas brewing already.
