Last week was the 2018 Pennsylvania National Quilt Extravaganza, put on by Mancuso Show Management. I had signed up for a hand-quilting workshop months ago, but at the last minute, I also decided to enter Meteor Watch solely for the judges’ comments (Mancuso shows return comment sheets to the entrants).

Imagine my surprise when this happened:

So, this is my first ribbon beyond the level of the county fair, and of course I had to take a selfie:

And my mom caught a shot of me putting on a finger-gun show for my friends Ellen and Lily:

I did get the judges’ comment sheet back, and the comments were overwhelmingly positive. I was especially pleased with a compliment on the binding, which I took special pride in for some reason.

Check out all of the ribbon winners at the QuiltFest website! I also posted pics of some of my favorites over on Instagram.

  1. Congratulations! Such and honor to win and it is such a gorgeous quilt! I received your lovely fat quarters – have been swamped with funeral and then guests all week. Just about ready to dive back in.
