At first glance, I thought this mug rug was made of appliquéd scraps from an autumn fabric collection. Instead, it’s a clever use of one piece of fabric–the sewist edge-stitched a metallic outline around every “scrap” to create the illusion of appliqué. I love it!
If you have a stitch-in-the-ditch/edge-stitch/topstitch foot, it’s easy to align your needle for that perfect finish. The Seasoned Homemaker has a tutorial demonstrating the use of the Bernina #10 foot, which is what I use.
