Island Batik Ambassador May Challenge

The May Island Batik Ambassador challenge is “Make It Modern with Hobbs”, and I loved how my quilt turned out SO much that I wrote up a pattern and sent it out to my intrepid testers on short notice. Watch for Pippin‘s release later this week!

Spring Clean Your Studio Blog Hop

Cheryl Sleboda has accomplished what many have tried to do and failed. She inspired me to clean off my long-arm, which had become to me what a treadmill is to many: a dumping ground. While I still have some areas to work on, I accomplished SO much more than I expected–and in time to post my improved workspace for the hop! Head to my post for a complete schedule.

Spring Clean Your Studio 2019

A side effect of studio reorganization is that old projects pop up and remind me that they exist. One night this week, I couldn’t sleep. I ended up pulling an all-nighter and doing all sorts of chain piecing and pressing and whatever other mindless tasks I could manage in the middle of the night. I finished up the blocks for the old Periwinkle quilt…

…and found a box of half-square triangles that I’d intended for an Ocean Waves quilt. I hadn’t cut any of the other fabric yet, so I decided to abandon the original plan and just put all those HSTs together.

Island Batik Ambassador June Project

The June challenge is “Try It!” and y’all know I’m all over THAT. I found my inspiration in the April/May 2019 issue of Quilting Arts. Quilting: almost done. This one has been so much fun.

  1. Hi Becca! WOWEE – you have had a Productive week (capital P is very deserved). I have been planning a major craft closet clean out myself but had an expected death in the family. In my mind, everything is out of the closet, sorted and evaluated by worthiness to stay or not. Then, oh the fabric is going to be sorted nicely and even the batting pieces are labeled and neat. Fortunately, that is not going to only exist in my mind as one day very soon the reorganization will happen. Fingers crossed. Looking forward to seeing your new pattern. ~smile~ Roseanne

    1. I’m sorry to hear about your family’s loss. That’s certainly more important to focus on right now! That said, at least you have a plan for your clean-out. When you do find the time, you’ll know EXACTLY what to do. All the best to you and yours.

  2. What a great week! Looking forward to the pattern. I do have a few to write this week and next. Cleaning is a good thing, identifying more UFOs is less thrilling. I do like the ability to change plans when those things no longer “work” or are needed as they once were.

    1. Thanks! It’s really liberating to let go of some old projects. I’ve disassembled a few kits and released the fabric into my stash. It’s like I pre-shopped for myself!
