It’s time to share What I Made for What I Made Monday! Share a link at the bottom of the post to show everyone what you made, too.
I spent less time in the studio last week than I would have liked, and this week looks pretty crazy. My fingers are crossed for some quality sewing machine time!
The My Happy Place Row-Along started last week. Did you catch my post last Thursday? The Beach Reading row remains free through the end of this week, and you can still enter to win an LED sewing machine light set from Inspired LED until Wednesday night.
I’ve started thinking about the background for setting my blocks. The consensus on Instagram seems to be “the color of the wood that blocks are on in the pictures,” with one vote for “cranberry.” I’d been leaning toward a kind of sandy taupe–since I’m planning to dye the fabric myself, I can’t predict how close I’ll get to my goal.
I’m using only fabrics that I dyed specifically for this challenge.
Windows to the East
Ten years ago, before I learned to quilt, my mother made a queen-sized cathedral windows quilt for my husband and me. Now that Mom is a member of my guild, I’ve informed her that the quilt has been entered in the show in October–and I’m laboriously going over it and making repairs to the windows that “broke” during its many years of use. I can’t wait to get this done and put a hanging sleeve on so I can get a good picture.
Plans for This Week
Keeping up with #100Days100Blocks2018 and continuing repairs on “Windows to the East”. I have a guild meeting to attend, plus a quilt show committee meeting, plus dropping off Meteor Watch to the Pennsylvania National Quilt Extravaganza, plus a workshop there on Saturday, plus a post to write for this Wednesday when the Border Quilt Quilt-Along kicks off. I’m keeping my sewing goals small.
