Oliso Smart Iron

No big spectacular finishes this week! Just steady progress. I got a little bit more quilting done on Sticky Candy–I don’t know why I can’t seem to just sit and finish it. The first two borders have been finished for the Border Quilt Quilt-Along, and numbers three and four are in progress. Watch for that post on Wednesday!

Windows to the East

I finished repairing and cleaning the cathedral windows quilt that my mom made in 2008. Now to put a sleeve on it!

Current status: looking over the quilt my mom made for me 10 years ago for any necessary mending from wear and tear before giving it a good cleaning. If someone makes you a queen sized cathedral windows quilt by hand, you know they love you. . After it's cleaned and I put a hanging sleeve on it, I'll get some good pictures to show you because it's AMAZING. . . #momlovesme #bestmomever #quiltersdaughter #quilt #quilting #cathedralwindows #handquilting #handsewing #quiltsofinstagram #quiltersofinstagram

#100Days100Blocks2018

Still keeping up! I’ve worked ahead to day 92. The end is in sight!

Day 74. #100days100blocks2018

Day 75. Yes, I'm a little later than usual, but no worries! I caught up to my pre-made blocks and had a few things to get done before sitting down at the machine. All good! #100days100blocks2018

Day 76. #100days100blocks2018

Day 77. #100days100blocks2018

Day 78. I started with 36 hand-dyed fat quarters, and it looks like that will be enough (although my color options might get a little limited soon). #100days100blocks2018

I’m using only fabrics that I dyed specifically for this challenge.

UFO Challenge

I basted this old quilt top and planned some simple quilting. It’s on my list for today, because I feel like I need to finish something.

Boy, do I hate pin basting. I can't spray baste today, but it's a small quilt so it's all good. This is the next UFO I'm finishing for my #ufochallenge2018. The top is a few years old. I won a small fat quarter bundle and a book (Far Quarter Quilts by M'liss Rae Hawley) from a shop that has since closed. The pattern is from the book and is called Broken Bricks. . . #quilt #quilting #ufochallenge #brokenbricks #riplqs #fatquarterquilt #fatquarterquilts #quiltersofinstagram #quiltsofinstagram #pinbasting #pinbastingsucks

Paints and Stamps

After picking up some paints and hand-carved wood block stamps at the quilt expo last week, of course I had to experiment a bit.

What I Made Monday

Art Quilt Background

I used some dupioni silk and hand-dyed cotton in an improv exercise that may end up as the background for my art quilt group’s “Bird” challenge. I haven’t decided yet. If not, it’ll get used some other way because I FREAKING LOVE IT.

A little improv play with silk and hand-dyed cotton to start my day. I was going to skip coffee today, but never mind. Time to make coffee. . . #coffee #improv #improvplay #improvquilting #quilt #quilting #miniquilt #artquilting #artquilt #handdyed #handdyedfabric

Plans for This Week

Finishing the next UFO. Sitting down to focus on Sticky Candy. Finishing the #100Days100Blocks2018 blocks and planning the setting. Putting hanging sleeves on my kids’ quilts, my mom’s quilt, and the race bib quilt, all of which will hang in my local guild’s show on October 13-14.

  1. You have some interesting projects coming up! Love the silk improv – soon I will try an improv quilt. The stamping looks like a lot of fun. I received those lovely fat quarters, but have been away so I don’t think I told you how wonderful they are. They will need a special plan.
