Today’s your lucky day–TWO blocks get released! Make sure to check out Block Four so you can get started on both of them.
But for now, here’s Block Three!
Laura over at Slice of Pi Quilts designed a fantastic Santa block–it’s super cute, and it’s super simple to put together! Isn’t it amazing how just a few rectangles of a few colors can evoke such an iconic image?
- 2.5″ strip of black fabric (from Thicket by Gingiber, Moda Fabrics)
- 4.5″ strip of red fabric (from Cherry Christmas, Moda Fabrics)
- 1.5″ strip of gold fabric (Glisten, Windham Fabrics)
If you’re trying to use the same background for every block (and your background isn’t red), there’s enough room here to trim down the block and add a border. Just make sure to trim off 1/4 inch LESS than the width of the desired border and ADD 1/4 inch more to the border fabric. For a 2″ border, for example, you would trim 1.75″ from the block and cut a 2.25″ wide border before stitching with a quarter-inch seam allowance.
